amy.e.ward’s work is layers of story: realism and abstraction, landforms and currents, sight and light. 

an artist with deep roots in education and wilderness leadership, Amy has spent her life examining relationships through art: to self, to each other, to landscape and the earth.  she lives and works out of Idaho Springs, Colorado.  the little mountain house with the yellow door, elevation 7,526 ft., 45 minutes from downtown Denver.  she holds a BA in Visual Art and an M.Ed. in Art Education. Amy’s artwork brings a fresh approach to abstract expressionism: the visceral energy of her paint focused beginnings slows into secondary layers of finely detailed inky line work.  the magic is in the tension between the layers.  in the relationships.
